BradfordBoycott movement takes off

Several of our local activists in Bradford have caused a social media storm with their new movement: BradfordBoycott.

The organisers describe themselves as a “volunteer movement who try to organise an encourage businesses in the local area to boycott Israeli products in their shops.” The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement is picking up pace, with increasing numbers of people realising that local activism, in the face of their governments which continue to support the Israeli massacre in Gaza, is the most effective way of having a direct effect.

Supporter Yas Qureshi said: “The response from the businesses in Bradford has been amazing, we are greatly encouraged by their actions and hope that the Bradford movement will be an inspiration for the rest of the country to follow, our aim is to make Bradford the first city in the UK an apartheid Israel-free zone and we hope you can all join us.”

The movement has enjoyed huge success since it started just a few days ago, with dozens of businesses supporting their campaign and a huge social media presence. There are now many more movements springing up around the country organising locally. You can follow them by clicking on the links below.

Bradford, Preston, Rotherham, Birmingham, Greater Manchester, Blackburn, Oldham, Halifax, Chester. Others will be added here as they are created.
