Pickles to meet Bradford MPs over Britain First mosque invasion
The government’s communities secretary – and former Bradford councillor – Eric Pickles has agreed to meet Bradford MPs over the invasion, last Saturday, of 10 Bradford mosques by uniformed Britain First thugs.
Bradford West MP George Galloway has pressed for an all-party meeting over the incidents, including demanding action from the Home Secretary Theresa May, and now Pickles has responded to his request. “Well it has taken the government some time to respond to this provocation and desecration,” Galloway said, “but at last they seem to be taking it seriously. I’ll be asking Eric Pickles just what action he intends to take to ensure this does not happen again, including looking at banning Britain First.”
Galloway added that the group had also invaded the East London mosque in the past 36 hours. “If it had been Muslims invading churches we’d have seen them banged-up by now. But this mob seem to be able to act with impunity.”
Pickles has suggested several dates in early June for the meeting.
