"The Summer University of Palestine is an unmissable experience. It combines wonderful lectures, visits to unforgettable places, and a close and friendly environment. You will find it both very enjoyable and informative." - Dr Ghada Karmi, author of In Search of Fatima and Married to Another Man: Israel's Dilemma in Palestine.
Speakers invited to speak at this year’s university include: Salman Abu Sitta, Founder and President of the Palestine Land Society, Alastair Crooke, Director of the Conflicts Forum, George Galloway, founder of Viva Palestina, Dr Ghada Karmi, Co-Director of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter, Ronnie Kasrils, former leader of the armed wing of the African National Congress, Tim Llewellyn, former BBC correspondent in the Middle East, Sarah Marusek, Researcher at the American University of Beirut, Kevin Ovenden, survivor from the Mavi Marmara and many others
This year we will also be organising tours of the south down to the border with occupied Palestine, to the Museum of National Resistance, to the historic Roman site at Baalbek, to the historic city of Byblos and to a Palestinian refugee camp and there will be a walking tour of Beirut with veterans of the Lebanese civil war.

This is a unique event and a unique opportunity to learn about the Middle East, the sources of conflict and roads to a resolution.
For the eight days, the cost is just $410 or £280. EARLY BIRD OFFER: Register and pay in full by 1st May and get 10% off – the whole week for just £250.
Accommodation in Beirut at reasonably priced hotels is plentiful at this time of the year and flights are also relatively cheap if you book early. We are also investigating whether we can organise reasonably priced accommodation close to the AUB. We hope to come to a conclusion on this by the end of March.
